Rockfish Implements Flight Information Display System (FIDS)

Rockfish Interactive, an interactive marketing and technology agency with offices in Fort Smith and Bentonville, recently completed the upgraded Flight Information Display System (FIDS) at the Fort Smith Regional Airport. The new system became fully functional Monday, January 8, 2007. The FIDS monitors are located at six prime locations within the terminal: front and back lobby areas, baggage claim, The Landing Café (restaurant), American Airline gate, and Northwest Airline gate.

Rockfish Interactive developed the customized software for the Fort Smith Regional Airport that features daily arrivals and departures in real time. We created a dynamic web application that receives data feeds direct from the airlines and then uses that information to power the airports Flight Information Display System and their website. The entire system is powered by Rockfish Interactive s innovative Site Management application that allows the airline to manage flight over-rides, airport announcements, and advertisement, said Kenny Tomlin, Rockfish Interactive President.

The Fort Smith Regional Airport sees great benefits of the FIDS project to both the travelers and airport staff. The system will be a tremendous improvement in information for our customers. The data being used is as accurate as possible. The information is available on our website, www.fortsmithairport.com, as well as throughout the terminal. Passengers will be just a few steps away from knowing the status of their flight. Since Rockfish Interactive put the work into clearly evaluating and processing the airlines data, the airlines will not need to dedicate additional staff time to this task as many systems require, said Kent Penney, Fort Smith Regional Airport Director.
