CrazyHotJob.com
Challenge: Here at Rockfish we’re consistently committed to launching new companies and technologies. The latest evidence of this commitment is our recent launch of CrazyHotJob.com.
As we have watched our own company grow, we’ve experienced the struggle of using job boards to help us find driven, talented employees. The idea for CrazyHotJob.com was born from the same brilliant concept that launched Woot.com: less is more. We concepted and developed a site that posts just one job per day, and to make the cut, the job must be crazy hot.
Solution: What makes a job crazy hot? Some factors may include location, salary, stock options, signing bonuses, work environment, and work type. We also realize that some of the best jobs may be offered by smaller companies or non-profits that can’t afford a fee to post, so featuring jobs on CrazyHotJob.com is absolutely free.
Details: How is each day’s job selected? Users help us choose. Every submitted posting answers the question, “Why is this job crazy hot?” The answers to that question are posted on the site. Users can vote the job either “hot” or “cold,” and the job with the most “hot” votes will almost certainly be the job that is posted live on the site the next day.
The site updates with a new job each day at 10:00 a.m. CST, and we post it on Twitter (@crazyhotjob) shortly thereafter. We’re working on socializing the site, and are building a solid base of Twitter followers and blog mentions. So far the response is overwhelmingly positive.
We’ve got a few other thoughts on how to make the site even more interesting. If you’ve got ideas, we’d love to hear your feedback.
